What a Waste!
Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW) are leftover chemicals commonly used at home that need to be safely reused, recycled, disposed, or destroyed to prevent damage to the environment. Examples of HHWs are cleaning products, automotive products, paints, pesticides, aerosols, and batteries. These household wastes may catch fire, react, explode and become corrosive or toxic to humans, animals, and the environment.
E-waste is short for “electronic waste.” E-waste includes computers, laptops, televisions, printers, cellphones, and desk phones. Many of these materials can be reused, refurbished, or recycled to reduce the amount of waste. It is important to carefully manage electronic waste because improper disposal may lead to public health and environmental concerns. E-wastes may have high levels of lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic, which are harmful to humans and the environment.
